Howard helps Magic cool Heat

Basketball Betting Lines

02/22/2009 - Orlando, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Dwight Howard's 32 points and 17 rebounds coupled with the Magic's 17 three-pointers offset the Dwyane Wade show for Miami, as Orlando cruised to a 122-99 wire-to-wire victory over the Heat.

Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis each netted four three-pointers for 20 and 18 points, respectively, for Orlando, which won back-to-back games for the first time since its three-game winning streak was stopped back on February 2.

Turkoglu also had nine rebounds for the Magic, who had a 53-28 edge on the glass. Rafer Alston, in his second game with the club since being traded from Houston, contributed 12 points and nine assists in the victory.

Wade was virtually unstoppable on the offensive end, finishing with a career- high 50 points behind a 17-for-30 effort from the floor and 14-of-15 shooting from the free throw line. Unfortunately for the Heat, who have alternated wins and losses for the past seven games, the rest of the team shot a combined 33.9 percent from the floor in the setback.

The hosts extended a two-point lead early on with a 13-0 run. Alston hit two three-pointers during the stretch and Howard capped it with a three-point play for a 27-12 lead seven minutes into the game.

Behind Howard's 15 first-quarter points, Orlando owned a 39-24 edge and continued to fill the bucket in the second frame. Leading by 20 with three minutes to go before the break, Courtney Lee drilled a trey and laid in an easy basket off a nice pass from Turkoglu for a 62-37 edge.

Wade scored nine of the next 11 points but the Heat still stared at a 64-46 deficit at halftime.

Miami made three tries from behind the arc early in the third quarter to make it an 11-point game. Orlando had too much fire power, though, as Howard's dunk around the two-minute mark capped a 16-5 run to rebuild the 20-point lead.

The margin was 91-72 heading to the fourth, and Lewis' three-pointer and mid- range jumper to open the frame deflated Miami's already slim comeback aspirations.

Game Notes

Orlando leads the season series, 2-1...Miami is winless in its last six trips to Orlando...Magic guard Mickael Pietrus did not play due to a sprained right wrist...Lee logged 14 points for Orlando, while Anthony Johnson and J.J. Redick came off the bench for 12 and 10 points, respectively...Rookie Michael Beasley was the only other Heat player in double figures, tallying 14 points.

Terrell Owens could return for Cowboys next game
A bye week will allow Terrell Owens broken hand to recover just in time for the next game the Dallas Cowboys are slated to play, according to reports. MySportsbook.com, an football sportsbook, has posted football betting lines on TO playing.

Owens broke the bone leading to his right ring finger Sunday night and had a plate surgically attached to it Monday. Although Owens' hand was swollen and aching Wednesday, Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said he's optimistic the receiver will be back at work next week and catching passes a week from Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

MySportsbook.com online sportsbook listed Terrell Owens with odds of 7-2 (or $7 paid out for every $2 bet) to return back for the game against Tennessee.

"I certainly wouldn't rule it out now," Parcells said, referring to Terrell Owens immediate return. "Maybe five days from now I might, but I wouldn't rule it out now. ... I know we're looking to try to get him moving around pretty good in the next day or so. So we'll see where we are."

Owens did not speak with reporters Wednesday, but said Sunday he'd be out two to four weeks. A return against the Titans would be 13 days after the surgery. The Cowboys were listed as an early -7 1/2 favorite vs. the Tennessee Titans for Week 4 at MySportsbook.com

MySportsbook.com favors Bears, Bengals, Chargers and Colts to remain perfect

LAS VEGAS , Sept. 28 - Two big match-ups of undefeated teams have fans salivating at the Week Four schedule in the NFL. The Chicago Bears stifling defense looks to provide a less than hospitable welcome to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in a battle of two 3-0 teams in the NFC conference. In the AFC, the San Diego Chargers (2-0) head to Maryland to face the surprising Baltimore Ravens (3-0) as both try to keep pace atop the conference standings. Betting Lines makers at MySportsbook.com, online sportsbook and casino, have set the Bears as 3.5 point favorites while the Chargers are a 2.5 point bet.

Of the three remaining undefeated teams, only one, New Orleans, enters this week's game as an underdog. Despite an emotional and resounding win over Atlanta on Monday night, the Saints are a 7.5 point underdog against the struggling Carolina Panthers. Indianapolis looks to stay perfect when they face the New York Jets as a 9 point road favorite while the Cincinnati Bengals are a 6 point favorite at home to the New England Patriots.

Six teams enter the week still looking for their first win, with a seventh, Tampa Bay, on a bye week. The prospect of dropping another game would not bode well for a potential playoff run. Since 1990, just three teams -- the 1992 Chargers, 1995 Detroit Lions and 1998 Buffalo Bills -- have overcome losing their first three games of the season to earn a postseason berth. And only the Chargers managed to accomplish the feat after starting 0-4.
